RGT Exams

I have been a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors (RGT) since 1998. The RGT works to develop guitar teaching and has created a framework by which electric / contemporary guitar teaching can be formalised as classical playing has been for years. I suggest, although do not insist, that students consider the RGT grading scheme as it offers the following:

• A structure to learning
• RGT exams and handbooks are available for Electric Guitar (which covers lead and rhythm playing in a number of styles), Bass and Acoustic
• Educationally recognised qualification for those who may wish to go on to further study or gain qualification for their own sake

The grades have a value also in the National Qualification framework and so can count towards college entrance.
